Mount Mary College Welcomes New Board of Trustees Members

MILWAUKEE (October 27, 2009) – Three new members have joined Mount Mary College’s Board of Trustees, President Eileen Schwalbach announced. Board members each serve a three-year term.

Eileen Wirtz Bloechl photoEileen Wirtz Bloechl of Sun City West, Ariz. is a 1954 alumna of Mount Mary College. Originally from Oshkosh, Wis., Bloechl and her husband F. Richard (deceased) have strong ties to the College. Bloechl Recreation Center, the College’s new athletic facility, was named in honor of and as a gift to Bloechl from her husband. He had honored her with another gift to Mount Mary College a few years before. A student lounge in Caroline Hall, the residence hall Bloechl lived in while she was a student, was refurbished in her name. Additional renovations to Caroline Hall were made later, also in her name.

The Bloechls’ spirit of giving is evidenced in Bloechl’s numerous volunteer activities. She is a member of the Board of Directors for Interfaith Community Care, a non-denominational, non-profit, human services organization that includes Wirtzie’s Child Development Center, named after Bloechl. She is also actively involved in the Phoenix Diocesan Catholic Community Foundation and Catholic Outreach Center of the Sun Cities.

Mary L. Staudenmaier photoMary L. Staudenmaier of Marinette, Wis. is a 1960 alumna of Mount Mary College. She was honored by the College’s Alumnae Association in 1990 with the Madonna Medal for Professional Excellence, the highest award bestowed by the Association.

Staudenmaier began her career as a teacher, and then spent many years in the trust industry in Milwaukee including serving as VP of Heritage Trust & Company, now a part of Johnson Bank. She was elected to the Board of Directors of The Stephenson National Bank & Trust in Marinette in 1973 and formed a trust department. In 1977, Staudenmaier moved to Marinette to manage the growing trust department at the Bank & Trust. She was elected President & Trust Officer in1979 and in 2000, Chairman of the Board.

Currently semi-retired, Staudenmaier is active in numerous volunteer activities. She presently serves on Mount Mary’s Women’s Leadership Institute’s Advisory Board. She previously served as a Trustee from 1998-2006. During that time she was a member of the Investment Committee and spent several years on the Institutional Advancement Committee. She is also a founding director of several non-profit entities and still serves as Emeritus Director of both The M & M Area Community Foundation and Twin Counties Free Clinic.

Norman Barrientos photoNorman Barrientos of Bayside, Wis. is CEO and President of Barientos Design & Consulting, Inc. in Milwaukee, Wis., an architectural and engineering firm serving corporations, educational institutions, Indian Nations and community organizations. He has 27 years of architectural design and project management experience. He received his Bachelor of Arts and bachelor of architecture degrees from the University of Minnesota and a Graduate Certificate in Administration and Management from Harvard University.

Barrientos Design has received several industry awards including the 2005 Wisconsin Builder Magazine Newsmaker of the Year Award, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin’s 2004 and 2005 Business of the Year Awards, American Institute of Architects 2002 Design Award for the La Causa Charter School, and the 2002 Milwaukee Mayor’s Urban Design Award for the La Causa Charter School. LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Barrientos brings green technologies to new and existing buildings.

Barrientos is active serving the community through organizations such as Froedtert Hospital Foundation, Bayside Village Board of Zoning Appeals, Milwaukee Arts Board and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin.
