Sister Mary Eugenda Frankowska celebrates 80 years as a School Sister of Notre Dame. As a child standing before a mirror, instead of asking, “Who’s the fairest one of all,” she announced her intention to become a Sister.
A meaningful time in my ministry…
To live to be 100 years young is a tremendous and exciting milestone for me. I have felt very blessed in these years. Each one has been a gift from our good God. As an educator, I spent 24 years in administration. In being able to guide others, I felt so very graced.
What drew me to the SSND Community…
My sister, Stella (Sister Mary Nobilis), was already in the SSND community. One day, I stood on a small stool in front of a mirror and said, “Mother, now I am as tall as Stella. I must go where she is.” And so it happened.
One thing you might like to know about the School Sisters of Notre Dame…
The School Sisters of Notre Dame have always focused on being good educators. We also have the opportunity to experience a deep spiritual life, and the Eucharist is very important in our lives. We value the experience of living in community, helping and supporting one another by being Eucharistic people.
In my current ministry…
My current ministry is prayer and presence. I live in the Notre Dame of Elm Grove retirement community with other SSND Sisters. We remember in prayer and caring the issues affecting our lives and the lives of others. Because of our presence, many people call to ask us to pray for their intentions. This we gladly do.
Looking back and looking ahead…
I gratefully thank Our Lord for my long life, which has been filled with God’s blessings from day to day.
