Carla Rose Scheider, SSND

Sister Carla Rose celebrates 50 years as a School Sister of Notre Dame. She has ministered as a teacher and resource person.
A meaningful time in my ministry…
I had the opportunity to experience our internationality at the celebration of our silver jubilee. During that time, we lived in Rome, learning about SSND in a new way. We also went to Germany to visit areas of our roots as SSND.
I also had the privilege to participate in the Japan experience. We spent time with our sisters in their communities and ministries.
The gift of our diversity was so apparent.
What drew you to the SSND Community?
I had the presence and example of the SSNDs as my teachers in grade school.
What would you like people today to know about the School Sisters of Notre Dame?
We are blessed with a history of going where we are sent. We are gifted with the call to community where we live out the mission of Jesus. We move into the future with hope and expectation.
What is your current ministry?
I am currently a second grade teacher. Each day my students and I together strive to learn from each other and grow in wisdom and grace. I work with very dedicated women and men who believe in the gifts and talents of each other and of every student with whom we work.
Is there anything else that you would like to share?
I believe that whenever we say YES to God’s call, wherever we go, that place is where we are meant to be. In that setting, we grow and come to fullness of life.
