In response to the call of Vatican II, SSND has opened its doors, inviting laity to also accept the challenge of living that same spirit. School Sisters of Notre Dame and associates enrich and challenge one another to share their gifts, prayer, and a commitment to risk in faith as people of peace, hope, justice, and love. Through this mutual relationship, associates and sisters together, continue Christ’s mission, respond to the changing needs of the Church, and strive to live the values and ideals of the founders of the Congregation.

With an emphasis on prayer, ministry, and a sense of community, laity respond to their own hunger for a deeper commitment beyond parish life. At times, maybe you have felt a longing to search for what feels like a missing piece in your life, leading you to greater wholeness. SSND Association might be that missing piece for you.

The covenant relationship between an associate and the congregation reflects unity and diversity to further the mission of Jesus Christ in the spirit of Blessed Mother Theresa of Jesus Gerhardinger and Mother Caroline Friess. In a spirit of joy, hope, and reconciliation, the sisters and associates together extend the spirit of SSND, always attentive to Mary’s directive: “Do whatever Jesus tells you.” John 2:5
